My name is Monisha, and I’m a food addict.
No, but really.
I’ve been overweight since I can remember. I’ve gone through many phases of acceptance, avoidance, and denial when it comes to weight loss and my body. I’ve accepted that I was meant to be overweight. I convinced myself that I could eat whatever I wanted as long as I was happy, thus avoiding any weight loss method. I denied any disapproval in my body and life. I overcompensated my lack of self acceptance with confidence and counterfeit self esteem. I convinced myself that I was in control of my body and that everything was okay.
Until I went to the doctor and discovered that I was borderline pre-diabetic. It doesn’t sound severe now, but as a 26 year old with big plans for the future that didn’t involve insulin shots, I was terrified…and motivated. Something had to give.
Then came Keto
I had heard about Keto from my brother and sister in law, but never fully committed to the idea of changing my lifestyle. After my medical wake up call, I was determined to find a solution to my health issue that didn’t involve the diet pills that my doctor recommended.
I did more research, asked more questions, and set a start date.
I began my Ketogenic Lifestyle on August 14, 2017 and have lost 110lbs. I started in a size 3x/24 and can now comfortably fit a Medium/10-12. My blood test numbers are all on track. Beyond the numbers, I am happy. Genuinely happy. I have a new fervor for life and understanding of who I am.
Life is a journey so we are never done growing and evolving, but Keto has helped me accept this awareness and stay in tune as I change.
This journey is about me. I don’t owe anyone else anything. However, I am able to serve others better by first serving myself. I am a better wife, teacher, worshiper, and future mother because of the transformations that I continue to make on my Keto journey.
My only hope is that Keto is as good to you as it has been to me. A lifestyle change is not without road blocks and mistakes, but that is what makes your journey yours; what makes your journey unique.
Thank you for joining me on this journey as we Conquer together!
